Why families may love it
- Very interactive: kids can ride, try different bikes, join the parade, and participate in activities.
- Good for different skill levels: even children who don’t currently ride can try the learn-to-ride activities and demo bikes.
- Several free extras: bike checkups and sno cones are free.
- No bike required: WABA specifically says families can enjoy the festival without bringing a bike because demo bikes and activities will be available.
Good to know
- The main festival runs 10 AM–2 PM.
- If you want the Kids Bike Parade, plan to be there by noon.
- The neighborhood rides meet at different locations around DC at about 10 AM; these are optional.
- Food is available from food trucks, but food purchases are not necessarily free.
- The event page lists an RSVP option, so it’s worth checking the official page before going.
Best For
Families with children who enjoy bikes, outdoor activities, STEM/mechanical things, and hands-on events. It’s also a good choice for a child who is interested in learning to ride.
Cost: FREE (food and optional raffle entries cost extra).
