The Takoma Park Street Festival is a large community street festival returning for its 45th year in 2026. Carroll Avenue becomes a pedestrian festival area with 185+ vendor booths, 18 local bands, food trucks, shops, restaurants, and community activities. The event is rain or shine.
Family Activities
- 18 local bands performing throughout the festival
- More than 185 vendor booths featuring artists, makers, and local organizations
- Food trucks plus local restaurants and cafés
- Shopping and browsing local businesses
- Community activities spread along several blocks
- The festival includes the Takoma Park Gazebo area, another programmed gathering/performance point.
Why families may love it
- Lots to explore: This is more of a walk-around-and-discover festival than a single scheduled activity.
- Free admission, so families can enjoy the music and atmosphere without having to buy anything.
- The combination of music, food, crafts, vendors, and community activities gives children different things to look at and experience.
- It is particularly good for families who like busy outdoor festivals and local community events.
Good to know
- The festival covers a long stretch of Carroll Avenue, so expect quite a bit of walking.
- Takoma Metro (Red Line) is about three blocks from the festival entrance, making Metro a convenient option.
- There is free parking at the TPSS Co-op lot, 201 Ethan Allen Avenue, with ADA parking available.
- The event is rain or shine, so check the weather and bring appropriate clothing.
- Food, crafts, and merchandise are not free even though festival admission is free.
