Description
The Loudoun Fall Farm Tour is a county-wide celebration of local agriculture, with 34 participating farms and agricultural businesses in 2026. Families can create their own route, meet farmers, explore farm animals and gardens, learn how food is grown and made, and shop for locally produced goods.
Activities families may enjoy
Meet farm animals
Visit farms with alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep, donkeys, rabbits, chickens, and other animals. Some locations offer animal-feeding opportunities or demonstrations.
At Brookfield Dairy Farm, families can meet cows and calves, enjoy children’s activities, purchase ice cream, and watch a milking demonstration scheduled for 1:30 PM on both days.
Some farms offer honey tastings, beekeeping education, and opportunities to learn about bees and honey production. Check individual farm details for any sign-up requirements.
Depending on the farm, children may enjoy pumpkin painting, scavenger hunts, guided walks, fiber demonstrations, garden exploration, or seasonal treats. Some activities have an additional fee.
Why families may love it
- Educational and hands-on: Children can learn where food comes from and how animals, plants, and farms are cared for.
- Flexible: Choose a few farms that interest your family instead of trying to visit every location.
- Budget-friendly: Admission is free, so you can focus on activities that fit your budget.
- A fall outing: Enjoy the countryside, seasonal produce, farm shops, and rural scenery.
Good to know
- Plan your route ahead: Farms are spread across Loudoun County; this is a driving tour rather than one central festival.
- Check each stop’s schedule: Activities and hours may vary by location. Some workshops or tastings may require registration or payment.
- Prepare for the weather: Participating sites operate rain or shine, so outdoor clothing and comfortable shoes are sensible.
- Check the official farm list and map: Loudoun Farm Tour. The page also links to suggested itineraries.
Best for: Families with preschool and elementary-age children who enjoy animals, nature, food, gardening, and hands-on learning.
Cost: Free to visit participating farms; purchases and selected activities cost extra.
