Celebrate America’s 250th birthday with a free, day-long Smithsonian Family Day filled with hands-on activities, live performances, and interactive experiences for visitors of all ages. Held from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, the event transforms the historic Arts and Industries Building into a lively celebration of the nation’s past, present, and future.

Families can explore themed activity zones featuring STEM experiments, arts and crafts, storytelling, science demonstrations, dance and music performances, historical reenactors, community art projects, and sensory-friendly spaces. Special highlights include performances by Smithsonian Discovery Theater, The Washington Ballet, live jazz, sing-alongs, appearances by PBS KIDS characters and historical figures, outdoor activities in the Enid A. Haupt Garden, and the opportunity to visit the nearby Smithsonian Castle and its special exhibition American Aspirations.
